Online Video Hosting Is the 2007 Trend to Watch

By: Brad Vilner

With the holidays behind us, everyone's camera phones and video recorders are chock
full of family videos. With the growing trend of online video hosting services
headed by Youtube.com, Myspace.com, and of course Google - because what aren't some
of these .com companies not involved in? Many of these home videos will be finding
their way to the web if they have not rented a space online already. Sharing videos
with family and friends has become much easier too. So easy that even Aunt Sally
and Uncle George can show how it was to walk to school uphill both ways.

Online Video Is Increasingly Accessible to the General Public

What's more, many of these video hosting sites are free. Free sites such as
photobucket.com, Vidilife.com, and Dropshots.com will allow you to 1) upload your
videos onto their sites, 2) generate a script to allow you to post your videos to
specific online video pages, and 3) receive a URL to easily share your videos with
friends or family members

These online sites allow people all across the world to connect to each other. For
example, soldiers serving their country can log onto sites, such as Youtube.com and
view a video of their children or family members speaking to them or interacting.
The ease of uploading these videos allow families to interact more closely as
opposed to traditional letters, emails or phone conversations. These sites also
give a step-by-step instruction on how to load a home video onto the Internet, so
that you don't have to be very technically inclined to use them.

So What Exactly Is The Result of This Increased Accessibility?

The online video community is growing. According to a recent article from
eMarketer.com, 69 percent of Internet users view videos online. The most popular
online community is obviously Youtube.com. According to Hitwise, Youtube is
responsible for 42.94% of the online video market share. This online community is
continuing to boom. Hitwise continues to state that the top 10 leading internet
sites have increased viewers by 164% from Feb 2006 to May 2006. According to
"Infectious Greed" by Paul Kedrosky, total U.S. streaming audience in August of 2006
was 110.3 million people (each of whom averaged 2 video streams a day).

In spite of its rapid growth, online video sharing has yet to reach its peak. So
join in and take part in the vast community of Online Video Hosting.
